SUN CITY ANTHEM MEN'S GOLF CLUB
MINUTES OF THE April 17, 2008 MEETING
Location: Revere Golf Club
I. OFFICERS IN ATTENDANCE: President - M. Lynch, Secretary - M. Albert, Treasurer - Al Lomax, Tournament Chair - T. Boyd, E. Girard, Social Chairman and Past President - R. Johnson
II. CONVENE MEETING: President Lynch opened the meeting at approximately 1:05 p.m. There were approximately 40 members present.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On a motion by member T. Boyd and seconded by S. Hary the minutes of March 19, 2008 were approved.
IV. APPROVAL OF TREASURER'S REPORT: On a motion by J. McGonigle and seconded by member S. Hary the Treasurers report as of March 31, 2008 was approved. That report is attached.
V. PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS: President Lynch commented as follows:
- The Sun City Anthem Board will be discussing the Oversight committee (and possibly reconvening some form of this committee at the April 24th SCA Board of Director's Meeting. He reviewed the affairs of that committee over the last few years.
- President Lynch asked if there were new members present and there were none.
- President Lynch introduced Brian Whitman from Wachovia who will give a brief presentation at the conclusion of Men's Day.
VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Tournament Committee: Chairman Boyd reported that the "Tee Party" member guest will be July 19th and 20th and stated that over $5,000 in entry fees have been received. He highlighted the menus and prizes and also noted that there were several "singles" were looking for partners for the tournament and asked anyone interested in playing with a single to sign up.
Chairman Boyd stated that the "Desert Rules" will revert back to "Lateral Hazard Rules" and noted that re-staking certain areas will take place. According to "Lateral Hazard Rules" there is no relief from rocks, sprinkler heads, sprinkler boxes, etc.
Member Dave Smith stated that The Minuteman tournament will be held May 26th and members are encouraged to sign up. Certain proceeds from this event directly benefit Sun City Anthem residents. Dave also complimented President Lynch for his accurate and forceful presentation at the hearings on the Oversight Committee.
VII. NEW BUSINESS:
Troon General Manager Greg Kinney and Bill Klemke reviewed the progress of the upgrades and repairs being made to bunkers, tee boxes, and other areas. Troon has placed "Bubblers in all major water areas to facilitate circulation. The transitioning of grass to "Water Smart" Desert areas is progressing well. President Lynch and several commended Troon for their efforts to improve several areas of the golf courses.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT: On a motion by member E. Girard and seconded by member J. McGonigle the meeting was adjourned at approximately 1:50 p.m.
